Real Steel is not exactly fantasy but it does create a
futuristic world with objects that do not exist today, Robots. This movie is by
far one of my favorites this year! A great website that has information on the
movie, video games, pictures, downloads and more is http://steelgetsreal.com/.

This movie takes place in the year 2020 where the typical
human boxing has been replaced by “high-tech 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall street
robots”. The main character, played by Hugh Jackson, is Charlie Kenton. Charlie
used to be a boxer back when humans were still in the game but now fights
robots instead. However, Charlie’s mouth always causes him to bet more than he
can take causing him to owe a lot of people.
After his son’s mother dies, Charlie talks Max’s rich uncle
into paying him to watch Max for the summer while they go to Italy. Even though
they start out rough and Charlie is quite rude to the boy, they end training Max’s
sparing robot to box. As the first sparing robot to ever make its way to the
big leagues, they make some unfortunate enemies. “As the stakes in the
thrill-packed arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last
shot at a comeback” (http://steelgetsreal.com/).

Ambush: “He’s a gnarled, well-traveled underground robot
that fights in low-rung venues all across the Southwest and Texas. Ambush could
use some repairs and paint touch-ups but still manages to topple opponents with
a staggering upper cut and chest slam.”

Noisy Boy: “A onetime sensation on the World Robot Boxing
League with a 15-1 record. His designer in Japan infused him with “elements of
the shogun tradition,” Noisy Boy also has a voice component where you can tell
him his moves instead of using a remote.

Atom: ‘This is the “Rocky” character of the story. The other
robots are bigger, sleeker and scarier, but Atom is the everyman who has a
chance to become the people’s champ — and the bond that will reunite Kenton
with his estranged son, played by 12-year-old Dakota Goyo. There’s a
blank-slate quality to Atom’s face, Levy says. “Atom’s titanium mesh face cage,
which allows only the blue LEDs of his eyes to come through, results in a robot
whose very ambiguity allows us to project our assumptions — and, in the film, a
boy’s hopes — onto him.”’ Atom also has
a shadow function that allows him to shadow the moves of a person.
