Similar to my last post, I am Legend is a post-apocalyptic film
that was released in 2007. However, this movie did display zombie creatures.
The main character in this movie is a virologist by the name of Robert Neville, played by Will
Smith. After a man-made virus was
created to cure cancer, 90% of the human population was killed while the rest
become predatory, vampiristic, preying on those immune to the virus. Neville’s
wife and daughter were killed during the chaotic quarantine of Manhattan. By September
2012, Robert, immune to the virus, is now the only living person in New York
City. He has been continually trying to find an antidote to the virus while
also defending himself against the mutated humans and other creatures created
by the virus.
Robert now has a daily routine of experimenting on infected
rats to find a cure for the virus and trips through to decay to hunt for deer. Every
day he broadcasts a recording on his AM radio in search for any other
survivors. Unfortunately, he has not had any luck and his only companions have
been his German Sheppard and his mannequin patrons at the video store.
After finally discovering a possible treatment, Robert
decides to set up a trap and captures an infected woman. By doing this, he
enraged one of the Darkseeker alpha males who attempts to rescue her but is
driven inside by the sunlight. The next day, one of Roberts’s mannequins, Fred,
is out in the street in from of Grand Central Terminal, while trying to retrieve
him; he is caught in a snare trap and passes out. If you want to know what
happens next, rent or purchase the movie!
